At Home with Ronja Rupalla
A new home near Heidelberg, where design and function go hand in hand. This is where Ronja lives with her husband and child. From the very beginning, it was clear: everything had to be well thought out, not just for the moment, but for eternity.
The design motto: Bring the surrounding nature into the house. With numerous windows, the inside and outside blend seamlessly—accentuated by natural materials.
“Our home is overall very minimalist and clean. This mainly comes from our attempt to create a place of calm and design everything to be very peaceful to the eye.”
The architecture of the ground floor follows a clear concept: Two cubes made of wood and concrete create structure and tranquility, cleanly combined with white walls.
In addition to the clean lines, soft textiles are added: a cord sofa, high-pile rugs, and airy curtains. Light sources such as indirect lighting, paper lamps, and candles add warmth to the space.
Smart Storage
A hidden pantry and a coffee corner behind a door help keep the home always looking tidy.
The stainless steel kitchen line is complemented by a large wooden block, balancing the coolness of the aluminum.
"A typical weekend day always starts with breakfast. Even if we’re just having breakfast as a family, the table must always look nice."
"For many, metal and chrome are a huge trend right now. In my opinion, they have never gone out of style. Especially in combination with wood, it’s a great balance that creates a lot of coziness but is also very clean."
"My absolute favorite place is the sofa. On one hand, from here I can see our dining room and kitchen, meaning I always know what's going on in the house. On the other hand, I can also see the entire interior architecture of the house."
"You do spend quite a bit of time in the bathroom, and I think it's a place where you should feel comfortable. That's why it was especially important to me to create a place of relaxation there."
